Shacman truck is one of the earliest Chinese heavy-duty trucks to go abroad. In 1988, 13 “Yan’an” off-road trucks went out of the country, taking the first step of Shacman truck’s internationalization. After 36 years of efforts, by the end of 2024, Shacman truck has exported more than 360,000 units, and in the first quarter of this year, it still maintained the export scale of more than 14,000 units. With the honor of “Made in China”, Shacman truck is accelerating the expansion of overseas markets, adding glory to the development of China’s automobile industry.
On May 23rd, editors and journalists participating in the theme interview of “2025 Meet at Silk Fair – National Mainstream Media Look at Shaanxi” went into Shaanxi Automobile to learn about the high-quality steps taken by Shacman Truck in the aspect of intelligent manufacturing.
When the AGV unmanned transport vehicle along the magnetic track precision delivery frame, mechanical arm in the air to draw a beautiful arc to install the windshield, industrial robots to 0.01 mm precision to complete the tire assembly – this covers an area of 100,000 square meters of super factory, the traditional heavy truck manufacturing roar is being digitally redefined by the pulse.
In the digital command center of the assembly joint plant, the electronic screen is pulsating with real-time production data: 4.8-minute production beat, the peak capacity of 150 units in a single shift of a single line, which is equivalent to one heavy-duty truck completing the assembly of key components every second. On this intelligent production line that runs through the east and west, five sub-assembly lines and two assembly areas constitute an industrial neural network that operates precisely, and chassis assembly line A is staging an amazing “digital ballet” – 36 back-loading lift trucks are being assembled. Thirty-six back-loaded lifting AGV robots shuttle along the preset trajectory, accurately transporting thousands of parts and components of the entire vehicle, bolt tightening robots control the bolt torque error within ±3%, and six-in-one filling machine will fill the oil to the precise milliliter level.
“This is a production line that can think.” The director of the production office of Shacman truck assembly plant points to the SPS distribution system that is automatically sorting parts. 36 AGV robots are like well-trained “material stewards”, autonomously planning the optimal path through the visual recognition system, and constructing a “zero-inventory” intelligent logistics chain between the cab assembly area and the engine sub-assembly area. The intelligent logistics chain is built between the cab assembly area and the engine sub-assembly area. When the frame is just placed to the workstation by AGV, its configuration information has been synchronously transmitted to the tightening machine, filling machine and other equipment to achieve millisecond response of process parameters.
In the intelligent tire workstation, industrial robots are performing the “millimeter art”. The vision positioning system captures the installation points with 0.02mm precision, and the six-axis robotic arm completes the tire assembly with a rhythm of 2 meters per second, which, together with the automatic gluing and inspection system, compresses the traditional process that requires three people to unmanned operation. What is more remarkable is its “double-speed intelligent manufacturing” ability: 15 vehicles per hour under the regular production mode, switching to the sprint mode, the capacity can jump to 22 units / hour, completely breaking the “sea of people” capacity ceiling.
When the reporter followed the AGV to the quality door, a digital “physical examination” is being staged. 3D vision system to 0.05 mm precision scanning body surface, LIDAR airtightness nanometer detection, 128 sensors synchronized collection of electrical system data. Through the “electronic identity card” traceability system, the tightening curve of each screw can be traced back to the specific operator, building a quality firewall for the whole life cycle.
Sitting in the cockpit of the X6000 in the final offline area, the cockpit is spacious, changing the stereotypical impression of a cramped cockpit of heavy trucks in the past. The seats are gasbag shock-absorbing, multi-directional adjustable, and ventilated and heated. Multi-function steering wheel, dual suspension screen, intelligent voice, intelligent assisted driving system, etc., the configuration is on par with some head sedan.
“The value created here every minute is equivalent to three times that of a traditional factory.” This Shacman truck intelligent factory is redefining Chinese manufacturing with the standard of “lighthouse factory”.
