Inside the spacious and clean production plant, a 720-meter-long intelligent assembly line operates smoothly, with highly efficient connections between fully automated and digitalized production processes, presenting a bustling yet orderly production scene. Unlike the cumbersome operations of traditional heavy-duty manufacturing workshops, this facility replaces manual labor with “intelligent computing power,” achieving refined, standardized, and intelligent production throughout the entire process. Rows of industrial robotic arms operate with precision, completing core processes such as component assembly, welding, and testing with millimeter-level accuracy. AGV intelligent handling robots automatically shuttle between workstations, autonomously completing material transfer, precise positioning, and intelligent replenishment without human intervention. The entire production system operates efficiently and stably, showcasing the core strength of modern heavy-duty intelligent manufacturing.
Shaanxi Automobile’s Smart Factory
It is understood that the Shaanxi Automobile New Energy Heavy Truck Intelligent Factory is a benchmark intelligent manufacturing project that Shaanxi Automobile Holding Group is focusing on during its “14th Five-Year Plan” period. It is also recognized as an excellent intelligent factory by six national ministries and commissions, and is one of the largest and most technologically advanced new energy heavy truck production bases in Northwest China. The factory’s general assembly plant covers an area of 100,000 square meters, with an overall production line automation rate exceeding 70%. It has built an intelligent production line system with independent intellectual property rights, deeply aligning with the automotive industry’s development trends of electrification, lightweighting, intelligence, and sharing. Leveraging its proprietary integrated roll forming technology for commercial vehicle chassis longitudinal beams, AI-powered full-process visual inspection, and big data intelligent scheduling, the factory has built its own “data brain.” This enables digital closed-loop management of the entire lifecycle, from customer order placement, raw material allocation, parts processing, vehicle assembly to finished product inspection and delivery, completely overcoming the pain points of low efficiency, poor precision, and limited product variety in traditional heavy-duty truck production.
Shaanxi Automobile’s Smart Factory
High-efficiency intelligent manufacturing is the most striking feature of this smart factory. Based on a flexible intelligent production system, the factory achieves extreme production efficiency, with an average of one new energy heavy-duty truck rolling off the line every 4.8 minutes. A single production line can complete the assembly of one cab assembly every 3 minutes, and the two final assembly lines can achieve a maximum daily capacity of 450 vehicles, highlighting the advantages of large-scale production. Simultaneously, the production lines possess strong flexibility and adaptability, enabling mixed-line production of dozens of different types of new energy heavy-duty trucks. This fully accommodates the manufacturing needs of various new energy heavy-duty truck products, including pure electric, fuel cell, and clean energy vehicles, allowing for rapid response to diversified and customized market orders and laying a solid foundation for rapid product iteration and upgrades. Currently, the factory’s overall planned annual production capacity is 100,000 new energy heavy-duty trucks, with the first phase of the 50,000-unit production line already fully operational, demonstrating strong capacity expansion.
Shaanxi Automobile’s Smart Factory
In terms of quality control, Shaanxi Automobile’s intelligent factory has established a comprehensive, multi-dimensional intelligent quality inspection system. Relying on AI-powered visual intelligent inspection systems, online data monitoring, and full-process quality traceability, the system automates and precisely verifies 50 core processes, including frame welding, vehicle assembly, circuit debugging, and sealing testing. This effectively avoids errors from manual inspection, ensuring that the quality of every component and every vehicle is traceable and verifiable. This stringent intelligent quality control standard solidifies the core competitiveness of the products, continuously improving the reliability and stability of new energy heavy-duty trucks. Thanks to its robust intelligent manufacturing capabilities, the base’s new energy heavy-duty truck production surged in 2024, increasing by 305% year-on-year, with market recognition continuing to rise.
Intelligent manufacturing transformation is not just about efficiency upgrades, but also about high-quality development characterized by green and low-carbon practices. As the core carrier of Shaanxi’s high-end equipment manufacturing green transformation, Shaanxi Automobile Group’s New Energy Intelligent Factory integrates the concept of green development throughout the entire production process.
